Saint John Henry Newman was declared a Doctor of the Church
During a solemn Mass on the Solemnity of All Saints (1 November 2025), in the context of the Jubilee of the World of Education, Pope Leo XIV proclaimed Saint John Henry Newman a Doctor of the Church.
For 50 years, the Spiritual Family The Work has been contributing, through its International Centre of Newman Friends, to make this great Saint known, loved, studied and venerated in many countries. Together with the Episcopal Conference of England and Wales, the Confederation of the Oratory of St Philip, and many others, The Work has been among the promotors of Newman’s proclamation as Doctor of the Church. The fact that this proclamation coincides with the Golden Jubilee of the Newman Centre is a beautiful sign of divine providence.
