The Evening Blessing in the Spiritual Family The Work
Would you like to receive the blessing of many priests and bishops every evening? This is exactly what happens through the Evening Blessing in the Spiritual Family The Work:
Mother Julia Verhaeghe (1910-1997), the Foundress of our Community, had a great appreciation for the priestly blessing. She often asked her spiritual director, the priest Arthur Hillewaere (1888-1972), to bless her.
Even when Arthur Hillewaere was not on site, he gave his blessing to the then young Community every day. He did this every evening at a fixed time, and thus the expression Evening Blessing came into being.
Over the years, other priests and later also bishops joined in, who were willing to perform this act of blessing. On the other hand, a group of believers, single people, families and spiritual communities formed who wanted to receive the priestly blessing. So the Evening Blessing Circle was formed.

The Evening Blessing in practice
The members of the Evening Blessing Circle say a prayer in the evening or before going to bed. At the end of the prayer, believing firmly in the power of the blessing, they receive – in a spiritual way – the blessing through the hands of many priests and bishops. It is an invisible but powerful gift from God. Those who receive the blessing with great trust will experience its effect!
Receiving the Evening Blessing is associated with a partial indulgence.
A spiritual connection
Belonging to the Evening Blessing Circle does not constitute a membership in the Spiritual Family The Work, but rather a spiritual connection. It does not entail any financial contribution. Once a year, at Christmas, we send a newsletter to the Evening Blessing Circle in which we provide information about developments in our community.
